Meet Maddie Cevallos, the vibrant Assistant Production Designer at Sock Club whose creative spirit is weaving its way into every colorful thread! With a collaborative spirit and a flair for innovative design, Maddie saw an opportunity to let her creativity shine in the most unexpected of canvases – socks!
What is your background prior to Sock Club?
Maddie: I recently graduated from Texas Tech University with a BFA in graphic design, so this is my first job post-grad! In college I freelanced for various companies, was a student designer at the TTU School of Music, and secretary for the professor of Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing.
What is your favorite thing about working at Sock Club?
Maddie: My favorite thing about working at Sock Club has been the incredibly welcoming atmosphere, and the ability to be creative all day every day while designing socks!
What's it like working in your role at Sock Club for someone who wouldn't know at all?
Maddie: It's a constant flow of creativity! I get to assist at various points in the sock designing process, so I get to do a little bit of everything. I help all the designers with their revisions from clients and getting their files ready for print as well. It's really fun to be able to see what each designer is working on at the moment and be able to help with the final product!
Who or what inspires you?
Maddie: I am inspired by the city of Austin! My favorite thing to do is walk/run around different parts of the city and find new and unexpected pieces of art, whether it be a mural, poster, sidewalk art, or random stickers. I love finding all the various forms of art that Austin has to offer!
What’s the last book you read? Why/what did you learn?
Maddie: The last book that I read was called The Housemaid. It is a thriller novel by Freida McFadden, and it was amazing! It was more of an entertainment read for me, and it definitely kept me entertained! I read it in one day, I couldn't stop! 10/10 recommend.
What’s the first concert you ever attended?
Maddie: ACL circa 2012
What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
Maddie: Germany
What is something people might not know about you?
Maddie: I went to a fine arts high school in Austin and majored in dance!
When people talk about the impact you make at Sock Club, what do you want them to say?
Maddie: I want people to say that I bring a unique and creative aspect to all sock designs, and that I help the design team run even more efficiently!
What about your new position or Sock Club in general drew you to apply for the job?
Maddie: I was really drawn to Sock Club as a whole because of their mission to deliver high quality, locally sourced products, in a short period of time. I just loved how driven and goal oriented the company is, and how passionate everyone is about their role! I wanted to be able to share my creativity and design skills with the world and what better way than designing socks!
What initiative on another team are you most interested in learning about currently?
Maddie: I am most interested in learning more about the Marketing team and what their strategy is with social media, ads, etc. and how they track those numbers, and what their plan is for the future!
