Introducing Manny Suarez, the latest addition to Sock Club's esteemed development team, stepping in as our dedicated Technical Project Manager. With a robust background in project management and a passion for driving innovation, Manny brings a fresh perspective and a keen eye for detail to every endeavor. Known for his collaborative approach and strategic thinking, Manny is poised to streamline our development processes and propel Sock Club to new heights of efficiency and excellence.

What is your background prior to Sock Club?

Manny: I have over a decade of Project Management and Agile Development best practice experience. Before all that, I've done technical support for Google and Apple, as well as various startup companies in San Francisco.

What is your favorite thing about working at Sock Club?

Manny: It's refreshing to work for a company that inherently cares so deeply about its clients. The focus on quality and doing it right the first time is remarkable and it's so clearly a result of its stellar workforce!

What's it like working in your role at Sock Club for someone who wouldn't know at all?

Manny: Sometimes it's like conducting a new orchestra; everyone is a master of their own instrument, the singers all know how to sing perfectly in their own specific language, and they've all performed at incredible shows and venues before. To ensure everyone is in unison, the TPM keeps the pacing and the time for best delivery!

Who or what inspires you?

Manny: Definitely my mom. She's incredible.

What’s the last book you read? Why/what did you learn?

Manny: I'm on a sci-fi binge right now and re-finished Ender's Game. It's really getting me into the "just do it" mentality in life lately. The environment for you to do something new is never going to be perfect; give it a go!

I also just started A Court of Thorns and Roses to see what all the fuss is about. I have a feeling I'll be steamrolling through the rest of the books after this first one.

What’s the first concert you ever attended?

Manny: I had a spaghetti dinner with Eiffel 65 when I was 10 after their concert. That's a longer story!

What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?

Manny: I lived in Seville for 2 years, but didn't give Portugal enough time with how close I was. Would love to bring my kids there for a bit.

What is something people might not know about you?

Manny: I was born and raised in Puerto Rico! Spanish is my first language and it's always a shock since I just look like some dude from the northeast US.

When people talk about the impact you make at Sock Club, what do you want them to say?

Manny: That guy really set us up for growth, didn't he?

What initiative on another team are you most interested in learning about currently?

Manny: I'm really pumped about the involvement that CS has in the company on an Account Manager level and how it has morphed over the years. What a tremendous place to be that encompasses so many skill sets.

What about your new position or Sock Club in general drew you to apply for the job?

Manny: The products piqued my interest initially (so fun!), but I loved my interview process. David's candidness, Abbey's context, and the rest of leadership's "right fit" questions really cinched it.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know Manny and sharing in our enthusiasm for Sock Club's future! Keep an eye out for further employee spotlights, as we honor the diverse talents and invaluable contributions that truly set our team apart.
