In the vast and heartwarming landscape of non-profit organizations, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) stands out with a mission that is both noble and far-reaching. Founded in 1987, FMSC is dedicated to nourishing bodies and spirits across the globe, ensuring that children receive the vital sustenance they need.
But the scope of their commitment goes beyond just food. Through FMSC MarketPlace, FMSC extends support to artisans worldwide, providing them with a sustainable income to support their families and communities. We're thrilled to highlight FMSC's unique journey with Sock Club and their venture into the world of custom socks.
The FMSC MarketPlace began in 2007, inspired by a staff member’s trip to Haiti, where she discovered and brought back handmade bracelets from local artisans. These bracelets quickly sold out, generating crucial funds for the artisans’ community.
This success story laid the foundation for FMSC MarketPlace’s mission: to provide dignified and sustainable employment in communities that receive FMSC meals, enabling artisan partners to earn a fair wage for handcrafted goods and using profits to fund more meals for kids around the world. Currently, FMSC MarketPlace works with2,111 artisans across 12 countries, fostering economic self-sufficiency while funding meals for hungry children.
FMSC found Sock Club during an online search for American-made, high-quality socks that could bear their distinctive logo. The choice was clear: Sock Club’s commitment to quality and ethical production resonated with FMSC’s values, and the ability to create custom designs fit seamlessly with their vision for FMSC MarketPlace products. “The designers were very helpful in getting our design just right!” shared Sara Peterson, director of Retail Operations for FMSC MarketPlace.

The custom FMSC socks have quickly become a beloved item in their product lineup. Featuring eye-catching designs and the FMSC logo, these socks are more than just cozy apparel—they are conversation starters. FMSC strategically integrates these socks into their social media marketing, showcasing them alongside their array of handmade goods and other apparel.
“Our goal with all our social marketing for FMSC MarketPlace is to drive traffic to our website, convert visits into sales, and ultimately fund meals to feed more kids,” shared Peterson. “These socks help us create brand recognition and start conversations around FMSC.”
Since adding Sock Club’s custom socks to their collection, FMSC has sold 742 pairs. Each pair sold translates into 30 meals funded for children in need—a tangible impact that speaks volumes about the power of every purchase. In total, these sales have funded 22,260 meals, enough to feed 60 kids a daily meal for an entire year.
“We view engagement and brand awareness as other valuable metrics when measuring the impact of our social marketing. Our Sock Club socks are a fun piece of content to share and drive engagement. Who doesn’t love a cozy pair of socks!” noted FMSC.
FMSC’s collaboration with Sock Club has been a resounding success, and they plan to keep the momentum going. With new designs on the horizon, FMSC is excited to continue offering fresh and fun socks that support their mission and spread the word about their work.
As FMSC continues to nourish bodies and uplift communities, their partnership with Sock Club exemplifies how thoughtful collaborations can drive meaningful change. Each pair of custom socks not only warms feet but also helps feed the hungry, making the world a little better, one step at a time.
