Mabel Wadsworth Center is a non-profit health center with a mission to provide health care using a feminist model focused on sexual and reproductive health through education, advocacy, and clinical services. They opened in 1984 and provide a range of services including abortion care, prenatal care, gender-affirming hormone therapy, STI testing, contraceptives, and primary care.
As an abortion care provider, the Mabel Wadsworth Center faces challenges around stigma. While there is stigma around all sexual and reproductive care, this essential service is particularly targeted and stigmatized. From protestors to politicians, they face daily challenges around the stigmatization and banning of normal health services.
Because of this, ongoing support from evergreen donors is crucial. Aspen Ruhlin at the Center heard about Sock Club from a friend and volunteer, and thought they would make a great addition to their nonprofit swag. And, as Ruhlin said, “who doesn't like cool, comfy feminist socks?”
“We have used our Sock Club socks as Evergreen/monthly Donor gifts,” said Ruhlin. “The process was easy. We got great feedback from folks about the socks last year!”
