Brand launches call for cool swag and custom socks are the perfect fit!
Founded in 1864, The Peddie School is a private, independent, co-educational boarding and day school for grades 9-12 and postgraduates located in Hightstown, NJ.
Private boarding schools face rigorous competition from other private institutions as well as reputable public schools. It can be challenging to stand out in an environment with so many extraordinary peers. There are also many families who are new to the concept of boarding school and have reservations about sending their children away for high school. Some families have never considered boarding school because of the misconception that it’s too expensive. In reality, Peddie is a diverse community where kids can be themselves while benefiting from a transformative educational experience led by exceptional faculty.
Their institution has a remarkable history that goes back more than 150 years but there are still many who have never heard of Peddie. In September of 2019, they unveiled a complete visual brand overhaul, replacing assets that had been at the center of Peddie’s identity for more than 15 years. The new brand was well received by the community but there were still elements of the old brand in circulation for a while. School culture tends to be quite traditional and while the new brand was well-received, it has taken some time to educate their internal campus partners and the wider school community on their new design guidelines and practices.
At the brand launch, they wanted to start the school year off with a splash that would engage the students as well as the adult community on campus. After doing a Google search for cool swag, they found Sock Club. Peddie School said they were impressed by Sock Club’s commitment to quality as well as our “…charming and creative design services.”
The Art Director at Peddie School, Brandon Detherage, said, “We ordered a set of custom socks that featured the farmer from the school’s historic seal—a quirky character that has since become a bit of a meme unto itself—and handed them out at our convocation service as part of the kick-off for the new brand. That was our first order and we are now repeat customers with at least four different sock designs in our portfolio.”
In addition to giving away the custom socks to their school community, The Peddie School also offers some for sale in their campus store where they’ve been incredibly pleased with their performance.
