Sock Club’s Branded Socks Offer Creative Marketing Solution for The Herban Cannasseur
The Herban Cannasseur is a lifestyle brand established in 2020. They want people to be just as proud wearing a cannabis themed piece of clothing as they would wearing alcohol branded clothing. One of their goals is to educate people on the rich history, culture and advancements surrounding cannabis, while assisting in removing the stigma associated with the plant. They also want to shed light on how prohibition and the war on drugs disproportionately affected minority communities, and strategize with minority leaders in the cannabis space on how we can reverse some of that damage.
Founder Kyle Dayson says that the Cannabis industry itself is full of challenges, but being black and navigating these challenges is a whole other story.
“Essentially,” said Dayson, “it is a rich man's game, because there are so many fees and licenses to even try to get a dispensary or a grow started. The sad part is people of color being demonized over this very plant, and now that there is an opportunity to profit, the barriers to entry are far too high and wide for most minorities to participate. So much so, that less than 5% of the industry is black owned. We developed this brand as a way to not only raise awareness about the cannabis herb and its benefits, but to also raise capital in order to start our own line of cannabis products. In the meantime, we are having fun building our brand and building with our Cannasseur community.”
When asked about his challenges in promoting his company, Dayson said, “there are too many to name. We are a cannabis related brand, so that makes marketing challenging. You really have to think outside the box because social platforms are not always the friendliest to cannabis brands. Creative, grass roots is the approach we use. We really like to see and touch the people.”
